Saving costs on transport and storage with Ice Pack XL

InterFresh Concepts is the developer of Ice Pack XL; a flexible cooling mat that automatically fills up on location in a water bath and changes into a gel emulsion. After freezing the cooling mat, a gel ice is created that can cool fresh fish for up to three days at a continuous temperature of 0 degrees Celsius, depending on the insulation value of the packaging material. “In the fish sector, traditional flake ice is still used a lot, while there are much better options,” says Leon Hogervorst, product developer and salesman at InterFresh Concepts. “The Ice Pack XL takes up less space than flake ice and weighs less, which means lower transport costs. The soft, flexible pads prevent pressure marks or frost damage to the fish. ”

For fish retailers, the Ice Pack XL can be used well as a cool pack, says Hoogervorst. “Fish retailers who give flake ice in a plastic bag run the risk that the customer will come home with a bag of water, or even worse, melt water leaking onto his fish. The Ice Pack XL closes itself after it is filled with water, so you do not suffer from leaking melting ice. ” The Ice Pack XL has recently been improved and provided with double-sided plastic. “This makes the product even more user-friendly and ensures that the packs do not stick to each other,” explains Hoogervorst. The Ice Pack XL can be reused and has a big advantage over ready-to-use gel pads, says the developer. “Freezing is much faster. Ready-to-use gel pads take up more space; if you don't use them, half your freezer room will still be full. In dry form, six hundred Ice Packs XL sheets fit in one box (28x40 cm). ”
